Recognized as one of the greatest Argentine impressionists, Fernando Fader was born in Bordeaux, France, in 1882. Despite growing up in Mendoza, he took his first artistic steps at the Royal Institute of Arts and Sciences in Munich, where he studied under the direction of Henrich Von Zügel and completed his studies with honors. This defined his artistic technique, although he would later say "… the day I found myself alone before the gigantic mountains of the Cordillera, all my pictorial techniques vanished...".

Different circumstances that compromised his personal fortune, as well as that of his wife and family forced him to move to Buenos Aires where he restarted his career, quickly becoming one of the great Argentine artists. Throughout his life, he struggled to disseminate national art, participating in the founding of art academies and promoting the creation of the Fine Arts Academy and the Annual Exhibition Hall.

A delicate health forced him to spend his final years in Córdoba, where he continued his artistic production which he later presented in several extremely successful exhibitions in Buenos Aires. Finally, on February 28, 1935, Fernando Fader passed away leaving an artistic legacy that defines a style.

"Above all, I have always let myself be guided by this purpose: to make art here, for my homeland, for my people, regardless of myself, which is of no value in this regard. If something remains for my country, then that will be my greatest reward".
